Three weeks online.One day in the room.

The hackathon runs online on STARK Contests from SEP 09 to OCT 02, judged continuously as you build, and finishes in person on announcement day.

How it runs

Three phases, one continuous record

Nothing you built before kickoff counts, and nothing you build after it goes unrecorded. The whole round is visible as it happens.

  1. Kickoff

    SEP 0901

    Every team starts building their project from scratch. Whatever exists before this date does not count towards your submission.

  2. Building, online on STARK Contests

    SEP 09 → OCT 0202

    You post regular updates about your work through the official STARK Changelogs. Judges follow along for the whole round and comment on what you ship, so feedback arrives while you can still act on it.

  3. Announcement day, in person

    OCT 0203

    The round closes with a day in the room: finalising, presenting, keynotes and judging. Hosted at ALX.

How you're followed

Judges watch the work, not just the demo

Two records run the whole way through. Both are public, both are checked, and together they are how a team proves the project is genuinely theirs.

STARK Changelogs

Post regular updates as the project moves. Judges read them throughout the round and comment directly on your work. Treat it as a running log, not a final report.

Repositories are tracked for development progress, individual contributions, and overall activity across the round. A history that starts at kickoff and moves steadily says more than a single large commit at the end.

ALX have given us their space free of charge for announcement day. Attending is easiest for ALX members, but it is not a requirement. Anyone interested can register on the day.

24 days is a long time. Judges will expect it to show.

With over three weeks on the clock, a working prototype is the floor, not the achievement. The projects that place will be ambitious, fully functional, and genuinely useful to somebody, and their teams will be able to show how the idea evolved, how they worked together, and how they turned it into a product that runs.
